-linus, my dad’s dog, who is brown and curly and very obedient and loves to leap around at the dog park and isn’t allowed on beds but IS allowed on couches and one time when jazmine and gabe were up in hudson w me linus slept in my arms while we watched sideways and his stupid little beautiful face was in my elbow crook and i loved it so much and we shared a hotel room in las vegas together on a cross country road trip and i still think that’s funny
-moose, jazmine and gabe’s dog, who is blonde and gorgeous and fundamentally somewhat anxious (same) and likes to play w camo snake (camouflage snake toy, to those not in the know) and can jump VERY high and loves dinner patties—so does linus!—and is canonically australian and likes to bark at his reflection bc he thinks it’s another dog that jazmine and gabe got high and named “rizbo” and maya and i have both separately had the experience of crying while trying to get him out from under the bed while we were dogsitting bc we were late for job interviews
-elvis, eliza and zack’s dog, who is a short-haired, brown, stately new acquisition who was found on the streets of the florida panhandle w a scar on his leg that now looks like a bracelet and, after a very sleepy beginning, is now growing into his adult personality and exhausting his parents but is still extremely cute and knows i am an easy mark who will probably let him on the couch. we frenched this morning, nbd
-pogo (RIP), my mom and stepdad’s dog, who was gray and white and fluffy and got sort of skinny and sad in his old age and stopped wanting to chase tennis balls and had to wear a depressing little green coat, but he was always extremely nice and just sort of flopped from room to room looking for food
-woody and alys, kate and julia’s family dogs, who occasionally appear on zoom. woody is sort of thicc and alys is spry (unless i have them mixed up) and they seem very nice and well-matched
-stanley, my aunt flavia’s dog, who briefly shared space with riley (rip) and now lives in fear of dot the cat, and is black and sleek and shiny and loves to go to the beach and smell things and is allowed to sleep in bed with me when i’m in gloucester and was extremely sympathetic to me when girls were not texting me back on TWO separate occasions
-noche, my friend dana’s dog, who is small and wiry-haired and skittish and “george clooney-esque”—it makes sense when you meet him—and maybe the first dog i was ever in charge of? i still remember sitting in dana’s front yard w noche on my lap waiting for a guy to text me (theme!)
-the imaginary future dog i will maybe one day get when i am grown-up and perfect and shiny and partnered and independently wealthy and brave and have never experienced loss!!!!!!!!
