hello beloved friends! after 3 years of pitching, querying, writing, editing, more editing, even more editing, selling, way more writing, way more editing, a little more writing then a little more editing, i’m beyond proud to announce that my first book, a memoir-in-interviews called More, Please: On Food, Fat, Bingeing, Longing and the Lust for ‘Enough’, comes out on July 9, 2024. this big girl features interviews with almost a dozen of my favorite writers, artists, athletes, influencers and generally cool people, and i really hope you love it.
some really, really nice people have blurbed my book with so much kindness that just rereading the blurbs makes me cry 100% of the time (cancer sun ass), but i’d love to highlight one from author and journalist emma copley eisenberg, whose stunning novel ‘housemates’ came out this week: "More, Please maps what it feels like to be caught in constant contradiction: to love and fear food, and to want connection and aloneness at the same time. For those of us who have felt like our bodies are houses where no one was home, this book gave me new glittering and curious inhabitants. I recognized myself here like never before." like, what????? sob emoji!!!!!!!
there are lots of great places to preorder my book (a beyond-helpful thing for debut sales), but my favorite of them all is bookshop.org, where it’s currently on sale for $27.90; i really hope you buy it, but I would be equally thrilled if you requested it from your local library—which is easy to do on the libby app.
now, onto even more exciting matters: i’m going on a lil book tour! (with the option to extend it into a less-tiny book tour; booksellers and ppl holding literary events within driving distance of LA this summer and fall, pls hit me up for august/september events!)
on july 9, aka pub day, i’ll be in conversation with ruth madievsky, author of the brilliant and beautiful and bizarre bestselling novel ‘all night pharmacy’, at skylight books in los angeles at 7 p.m. come one, come all, get your book signed, wear your favorite outfit, rejoice in the gorgeous nightmare that is having a body!
on july 18, i’ll be in conversation with grace byron, one of my favorite journalist/critics, at books are magic in brooklyn at 7 p.m. get your tickets here! and let’s get some sandwiches afterwards if the rly good cheese place on that street is still open (can you tell i haven’t lived in brooklyn in 3 years…)
i’ll keep an updated calendar of book events on my website, so stay tuned for more MORE, PLEASE, please! (my single “my single is dropping” is dropping, etc.) and if you’re reading this at all, let alone buying my book, i need you to know that YOU ARE NOW MY BESTIE in a totally not par asocial way. thank you and i love you.
xoxo,
emma
